Basketball Hawkes Bay is seeking coaches for the 2020 season.

Basketball Hawkes Bay is working hard to establish a network of coaches who are investing in the development of athletes that can play at a national standard, be examples to their athletes in their commitment to learning about the game and be positive role models in their behaviour.

2019 represented a growth year as BBHB signed the largest amount of volunteer agreements in history. In 2019, Coach Development events were run through the year including Coach Induction in March, Rep Coach Workshop in April, along with three coaching clinics from outside expert coaches, along with three kiwihoops courses and three BBNZ Community Coach courses. "The coaches who made the time to commit to their development as a coach so that they could be better coach for the young people that come into their path are a credit to the region," says BBHB General Manager Chris McIvor.

"We want our players to exhibit a growth mindset. This means that we need coaches who can teach players about the learning process and also create an environment where players can feel vulnerable enough to make mistakes in order to develop as players. It's important we have high character coaches that exhibit those behaviours we want to see in our young people by committing to continuous learning," explains BBHB Basketball Manager Morgan Maskell.

A new season represents new experiences for our players and new challenges for our coaches, it's important that young people hear new voices in order to have a variety of experiences; and it's important our coaches continue to have different groups of players where they will have new learnings and new challenges.
